ALVIN AILEY AMERICAN DANCE THEATER CELEBRATES 50 YEARS
This year marks the 50th anniversary of one of America's most prestigious and celebrated dance companies, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, by far one of our personal favorites. SisterSpeak Online Editor Lisa Peyton-Caire recounts her first encounter with the Alvin Ailey dance troupe in Madison, Wisconsin.
 "I thought I had somehow fallen into paradise from my cushioned seat at the Memorial Union Theater. It must have been in 1998 or sometime thereafter. The company had come for a one night show and my husband managed to get tickets just before they sold out. I sat plastered to my seat that night in awe of the sight unfolding before my eyes. I'd never experienced anything so beautiful before in my entire life".
